I have already written about the process of analyzing and planning a layoff and also about how to see a layoff with a glass-half-full eye. I have been following the announcements of mass layoffs and the numbers from Layoffs Brasil and Layoffs.fyi. March numbers show some drop from February.
Keep in mind that these numbers are reported by people and companies, so they may be incomplete.
Despite the drop in the number of layoffs in March, the first quarter of 2023 was, according to figures from these two sites, the worst quarter since January 2020:
Brazil: 76 companies and 6,834 people laid off
World: 561 companies and 165.622 people laid off
That is, despite March being a little better, we just went through the worst quarter in terms of mass layoffs in technology companies.
Thinking of a way to help people who are going through layoffs in addition to the free vacancies that I have open in my courses, I decided to do a new experiment. I’m opening a schedule every working day in April for anyone who has gone through a mass layoff and believes that a coaching session with me can help in some way.
To schedule, just access my calendar and book your coaching session.
I’ve been helping companies and their leaders (CPOs, heads of product, CTOs, CEOs, tech founders, and heads of digital transformation) bridge the gap between business and technology through workshops, coaching, and advisory services on product management and digital transformation.
I write regularly about product management, product development, digital product leadership, and digital transformation. You can receive a notification whenever I publish a new article without depending on any social network algorithms to notify you! Just subscribe to my newsletter.
